About Chad
Raised hunting, fishing, and kneeboarding in Polk County, Florida. Two degrees in computer science (Go Gators). Worked at Arris Interactive, then 3 years at Nike headquarters in Oregon, then 3 years at Blue Lava Technologies (the Tetris guy's photography software startup) before going indie.
Been writing Mac software since macOS Tiger—the Delicious Generation. Still my favorite era. 13+ years of Objective-C. Late and reluctant convert to Swift. I miss the brackets, I miss the dynamism, and the compile time and opaque errors are annoying. SwiftUI is actually fun though.
Team Forstall. iOS 7 sucked. iOS 26 is okay, but the obvious lack of polish and constant slow decline of quality on all of Apple's new UIs and libraries is seriously disheartening.
Founder of Brevify Inc and Shacked LLC. Previously product and iOS, and current consultant, on Hobnob (acquired by Zazzle). In a past life, co-founded Lasso, a photo sharing app that raised $1.25M from Greylock and Trinity Ventures before being acquired by Photobucket in 2015.
Apps shipped: iLovePhotos, The Now, Flickpad, TeleTweet, Lasso, Smackback, Hobnob, Prints.app. Work has been featured in MacWorld, Wired, Daring Fireball, Huffington Post, and App Store Essentials.
When I'm not coding, you'll find me surfing or snowboarding with my wife and two boys.
